Only 29 percent of the Earth's surface is land – our limited habitat. Soil that takes centuries to form can be destroyed in minutes. Already 40 percent of arable ground is degraded due to overuse. Protecting it is essential – for biodiversity, the climate and our future.
The Save Land exhibition highlights this urgent issue by combining contemporary art, historical and scientific exhibits as well as interactive technologies. It examines the condition of our soil and explores how urban, agricultural and industrial land can be used more sustainably. At the same time the message is made accessible through digital formats thus extending its reach beyond physical and temporal boundaries while conserving resources.
Sustainability also shapes the exhibitions design: Following the principles of circular design, modular furniture is made from local spruce wood entfernt, thus ensuring recyclability and flexible reuse. My contribution lies in the design of these furniture pieces and the exhibition spaces. We're aiming to combine functionality, aesthetics, and environmental responsibility.
